P2 import into FCP-X

Trying to import P2 footage that has been archived to a hard drive into FCP-X (10.1.x). The import window shows me the video clips, but no audio clips. When I expand the selection to "all clips", I find the audio associated with that video clip - 4 different clips for each (Obviously representing the 4 different audio channels that were recorded). This is a series of spanned clips that runs over an hour! The client let the camera roll. This used to work fine in my FCP 7 machine, which recognized the P2 media as a combined video/audio clip in the Log & Transfer window. But in FCP-X, it sees the media as separate files. I can import them individually, place them on a timeline, and sync them up, then combine into a new composite clip. But surely there must be a simpler way to ingest P2 footage (DVCProHD codec) with the audio already married to the video? Suggestions? Am I missing something? Thanks ahead of time.
