Offline to Online Workflow - Using self-made ProRes Proxies

Quick workflow question - we have a Red Raw 5K project coming, with ProRes4444 and ProRes Proxies transcodes also being provided. I would like to use these Proxy files with FCPX and not have to use the built in transcode media function to waste time and create even more files. Has anyone figured out a way to use the delivered ProRes proxies in conjunction with FCPX proxy on/off switch? I know if I drag the Red footage in and use the built in transcode to proxy feature, it works fine. But how can I get FCPX to recognize the pre-made ProRes proxies from the DIT?

I've tried to drag the files once before into the FCPX proxy media folder, but FCPX didn't recognize them.

no idea if this will work, but you could try importing the red and letting FCPX start to make the proxies. then stop the transcoding and exit FCPX and copy your premade proxies into the folder FCPX creates. might trick it?

obviously you could just edit in FCP with the proxies, and then afterwards relink to the RED footage through a Resolve roundtrip, but doesn't help if you want to switch back and forth during the edit
