How do I do something with image overlays A La Bobby The Racist Apple in FCPX? Can I even do that? I don't know! I hope someone can tell me.

… on an 'Apple centric' board, you probably should use the originals name, The Annoying Orange ;)

That effect is simple to accomplish in FCPX, have a look:

You need a clip of an apple/orange/whatever fruit, and your talking talent clip copied twice (alt-drag up)
Use the Transform tool to position & size the mouth; apply a drawing mask; feather mask
repeat for eyes.
Adjust compo settings for your needs....

TWO tracks, because distance btw eyes and mouth is reduced, which gives that funny look: human 'face' but 'un-human' layout of yes and mouth.

To find correct position and fitting size, while adjusting I lowered the opacity of that layer to see the underlying apple...

I posted a tutorial about this way back when...

… yep, in Motion - OP asked for 'could it be done in FCPX?" - that's what I demo ...
Now, add a marker on the apple and stir DriveX into the recipe ...

but have to admit: your 'actor' looks smarter than mine .... :silly:

Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. I don't know much when it comes to applications like this.

(P.S. I chose Bobby the Racist Apple over Annoying Orange because of the fact that annoying orange looks much more natural and I wanted to intentionally make it look unnatural and stupid)

I'd not do it in FCPX, as Motion gives way more options. But either way, they work. In Motion you have built-in tracking to track your masks, or face-source if there's movement. In FCPX, use TrackX for that.
