Help with starting a new video

Help with starting a new video was created by yangy
Hey there, I'm very new to FCPX and I'm currently trying to create travel vlogs for youtube on it. So I have a library, and under it I started a new event for my first video. I noticed that when I started another event for my second video, the video I created from the first event is still in the timeline. So after finishing editing the second vlog in the timeline, I realized that when I click on the first event I created, the video I've done in the timeline is completely replaced by the second vlog. So I was wondering how I should organize my files so that I can have different vlogs? Should I have used different events and different projects?
Also I have an intro and outro that I'd like to use for every one of my vlogs, what's the best way to save them so I can apply it to each video?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You didn't mention projects. Are you actually making projects? Like a separate project for each vlog? Not sure what the problem is but maybe some screenshots of what you're seeing would help.

I dare to say (not meant as an offence! you're a beginner), you lack understanding of the CONCEPT how FCPX structures media.
So, I'd like to recommend the Lessons For Final Cut X from rippletraining;
itunes.apple.com/de/app/lessons-for-fina...-x/id952621966?mt=12
(link to US AppStore)
the first 10 lessons are free (!), but give you a kick into the basics of media management... and 10$ for the other lessons is worth every penny....

Thanks Tom and Karsten! I am definitely super new to FCP, but I think I know what my issue is now. I didn't create a project for each video under the event. Also I downloaded Motion to resolve intro and outro issue =].

it is fun to notice:
beginners tend to edit everything in the Event Browser, or don't use the Event Browser at all
Me no expert for 'other' NLEs, but that additional 'layer' in workflow
imported clips>>media management/'pre-edit'>>project
seems to confuse even experienced editors..
… my kids at my school project e.g. want to do everything in the timeline; they start to eliminate unwanted parts, give structure etc etc and soon get lost ... And that face "Wot? The Blade is NOT for cutting a movie??" is priceless!
When you get used to it, to favorize imports, tag parts, structure by keywords BEFORE starting edit, and how smart collections and keyword list help you, it is hard to believe, you could do it without it.
