MOV Files go black-video/static-audio halfway in was created by brett.michael
I recently moved an FCPX project into a new library on a second hard drive, following a "Delete Generated Event Files...". After this process was complete, several of the MOV clips just go to black-video and static-audio. If I play the same files from the "Original Media" folder they break at the same time marker.
The crazy thing is, I still have the original MOV files that I originally brought in from my camera (temporarily stored on my desktop so I didn't import everything in to my FCPX library unless I needed it) and those files have somehow been corrupted the same way (even though they are and never were the files FCPX was looking at). And even worse yet, no matter how far back I go in my time machine backup, THOSE files are corrupted the same way.
What happened? Any idea how to fix this?

Yeah, I mean, I thought about that but the files were corrupted across three drives during the FCPX "move project" operation - My rMBP's internal SSD (1 copy on my desktop - pre-import from my camera), the destination drive (3.5" HD) AND my Time Machine drive (a 3 TB ioSafe Solo - no matter how far back in time I go!).
I haven't seen anything else weird but haven't had much time to check other projects. I've only seen it on these two MOVs (which happen to be the main shots for this project - yay).
Is it possible that there exists an app which can repair MOVs which go corrupt midway through?

Will the files play in something else like VLC?
Have you restarted the computer and/or tried playing the files from a different user account?

Thanks, yeah, I've rebooted, etc. If I play in VLC it plays fine until the bad spot then the video screen closes down to the playlist view and the time continues to increment (i think).
The weird thing is, if I try to open it in QT Pro it tries to search for the file "MVI_0126.MOV" - but the actual file is "MVI_00125.MOV"
