long meetings crash was created by hoss
Morning;

i think i asked this last year, my how times flies. i just assumed it would be a non issue 365 days later. We shoot gov't meetings usually 3-4 hours, cut them in an updated fcpx with no problem.

This year, as last, we are clocking in with a 5-6 hour meeting and the share function bails right away. I have had to create 2 new libraries with half a meeting in each and it seems to be working.

Is this normal? Or did apple just never expect anybody to use their program this way?

Reminds of work we did in Flash some years ago. They had a little known secret that at the 16000 frame mark the program would be come unstabel and crash - found that out the hard way. They just never expected flash to be used in the way we were using it.

Anyway, is this long meeting/crash problem a bug or am i just doing something wrong? Obviously I just won't use it that way again but it would be nice just to be able to pump out a long meeting without this concern.

thanks
Hoss

Why do you have to make two libraries? Why not two projects? Don't see that there is a limitation on exporting long projects. Perhaps you can gives specs of your system and exactly what you're doing and how you're sharing and exactly what happens when it fails?

Thanks for getting back.

yeah we tried creating two projects, putting half in both, immediate fail.

So this looks like this seems the solution. The fail occurred on an older imac, the success occurred on the more powerful mac pro we recently bought. The pro just blew right on through it.

So i'll just stay away from the older model.

Thank you for your help.
