hi,

Just wondering how you guy's do it.

i often have quite a bit of footage from GoPro's and some clips of 2-3TB contain a couple of hundred MB in usable footage. My storage 13TB promise raid is filling up quickly would be great if there was a software where I could easily copy some small segments of one file and put them in individual clips before importing in to FCPX.

Cheers

Steve

During FCPX import you can choose just the clip you want or portions of the clips you want. You need to be in list view and then in the filmstrip for each clip you can mark in and out points or select ranges of video to import. You can select multiple ranges of a clip as well, so no need to use another app.

… if FCPX notices the clips as a 'camera'; devices, saving videos e.g. as mov or mp4 files don't allow that selective import.

But there's a handy, free app
www.spherico.com/filmtools/X-Files/VirtualCameraCard.dmg

which converts 'files into cameras' ...

great guy's that worked, the Sperico app seems like a good idea hate to have to do all the sorting while importing from cart.

Is there any way to discard all unused footage from FCPX after I finished the movie?
