Problem with Proxima Nova fonts in Final Cut Pro X 10.2.3

Hi there,

I'm wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the Proxima Nova fonts in FCPX?

Some of the styles (regular, bold, etc.) are not appearing properly.

I've tried deleting render files, restarting FCPX, and restarting my computer. I've also tried deleting and re-installing the font family.

Any ideas? See picture attached.

Well, that sure looks like a font with compatibility problems. Since it is from a third party (paid I think), I'd contact them and ask if they have a newer, cleaner version. Or use a different font.

Just tested this now for you and I have no issues with the Proxima Nova font. All typefaces seem to work fine (Regular, Italic, Bold, Extra Bold, Bold Italic and Extra Bold Italic). You might have a corrupt font file or as mentioned an outdated version. Check the Fontbook app to see if it gives you any errors for that font and if it doesn't, try deleting it and reinstalling it if you still have it stored somewhere.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. As far as I can tell, it's random.

One thing I forgot to mention is that this font is synced from the Adobe Creative Cloud TypeKit and doesn't actually live in Font Book.

I supposed Adobe will have to help me with this one.

If that is the only font you are having intermittent problems with, then it might be easier to just buy that font and have it permanently installed on your system.

I've been having the exact issue with Proxima Nova synced via TypeKit. On a facebook group, someone told me that some of the FCPX motion templates use Proxima Nova and there might be conflicts because of that. So if you unsync specific weights of the font, it might help, but then you wouldn't have access to those in your selections. Kind of frustrating. IF you found a solution let me know.

Just FYI, I have a font that's been in my system for many years now, "Paint Peel" that has no issues in any app but FCPX. It worked fine for 3 days while working on a client promo, opened FCPX this morning, it won't even show up now. Verified with Font Book, but FCPX specifically has an issue with it.

I'm starting to wonder if there's a font bug in FCPX.
