How would one go about removing an audio sub-role? I searched online, but no luck.

I don't think this is possible at the moment.

Can't you just select it and delete it in the roles editor?

As long as a sub role (or a custum role) is assigned to a ressource you can't delete it but if it is not assigned in a library close the library when you reopen it , it will not be there anymore.

Interesting, never realized that was possible. Thanks.

I think adding a "-" button to delete a sub role is a logical addition at some point. Obviously, this button would only become enabled once its not assigned to any more clips - seems to make sense to me.

Until then, a restart should clear it I guess then.

Thank you. In the end, I deleted the audio clip in question...then did a restart, and the subrole was gone...then put the clip back in the timeline (lucky this was a simple task). So that worked..thank you. It was a quick mistake by adding the subrole to that clip... not a big deal, but it made the timeline and roles pane look cluttered and more complex than it needed to be. I agree, if the "+" button exists, then a "-" button should too.

All you had to do was change the Audio clip's Role, then restart FCPX. No need to delete the Audio clip.
