Hello all, of FCPX 10.2.3 happily on my MacPro 3.1 2008 use 4 Hard Drives.
1 TB SATA for video files
1 TB SATA + project for the cache and the rest of FCPX
1 TB file archive documents + music + 250 GB SSD for el capitan and applicaziuoni
I wonder if the CACHE of FCPX is best to put it in a 120 GB SSD instead of the sata HD as I do now.
tips?
thank you
ps( Working in MTS (Lumix GH2) I would of risulatati considerable to use a SSD compared to a SATA HD or the difference would be minimal? )

If you're using 7200 rpm drives, via USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt, a single, non-system, volume should work just fine.

My mac pro 2008 does not have USB3 and then I connected the HD 7200 rpm via SATA cable, and works well, but I was wondering if it were using a SSD would have very high or improvements would be minimal.

The cache bundle includes render files so it can get very big.

I'm not sure you'd get the performance improvement of an SSD drive, via SATA. I think good, large, 7200 rpm drives is going to do as well as a SATA connection will do. I've never tested SSD via SATA first hand, though. Still, I don't know that multiple drives will improve your performance, as that is more work for the CPU and buses to deal with. I'd look at a good 4 bay, RAID 5 for your SATA connection. That'd be the top performance you could get with your specific Mac.
