Is it just me or is there a bug that you can't jump to fonts alphabetically by typing letters anymore? This is when choosing fonts within a title. I thought you used to be able to at least type a first letter to jump through the list to that section alphabetically.

Trashing FCPX prefs didn't fix it. Anyone have any ideas or has had this happen to them? Any letter I press jumps to the top of the font list.

Just a guess here, but you might have a corrupt font. You can look for that with the fontbook app (yellow exclamation sign next to problematic fonts) and you can also check for enabled duplicates and then disable or resolve any font issues. If you have another fontmanager installed aside from the standard OSX Fontbook, that has been known to pose various issues with other applications.

I've had the same issue in the past, couldn't figure out a fix for it back then. Just checked and looks like it's working now, but I did change computers lately so I'm not sure if that fixed it.

The whole font tool is kind of a mystery for me in FCPX. Besides the issue I previously had, it's confusing to me how pressing a letter often takes you to the first font starting with that letter, but sometimes it's a random font, like the fifth font starting with that letter. Not sure if that's also a bug.

Yeah I've had that random jump to fifth font thing happen before but now, of course just going to the first in the whole list. I'll check out if there are any problems in font book.

That's exactly how mine was, jumping to the very fist font. That was on my retina MBP, can't remember if this new retina iMac ever had the same issue.

Update: Resolving all font book problems didn't fix it. However now it jumps further down in the A's rather than to the top of the A's (no matter what key I press).

This hasn't worked for me for a long while with either X or Motion. Always defaults to first font in list.

If you have one or more fonts that you often use, you can save them as presets. This way you won't have to scroll through all the font types anymore to apply one of your favorite fonts:

Thanks, Ronny. That's definitely a good shortcut and something I should do more often. I'll be submitting apple feedback for the letter jump bug, as well.

Typing a letter has never worked for me in FCPX or in Motion. However, Page Up and Page Down do allow you to scroll quickly through the font list. Ronny's approach is a good one.

With my Magic Trackpad, swiping up and down scrolls really fast, really controlled, and I've never use keys to find a font. Jus saying...

Typing a letter in the Fonts list acting weirdly for me also.
For instance every time I type "A" it goes to Cooper Black font, no matter where I am in the list?

I tested this in FCPX 10.2.3, and at first it always went to the "Kraash" font, so I disabled it and then it went to the beginning of the list no matter what I pressed.
