Incremental Cuts on Long Clips

Not sure if this has ever been asked before, as I am new to FCPX and this forum but if it has, my apologies.

Basically I have two clips of a speaker, with two different camera angles that are about 45 minutes each. What I've been able to do in Premiere is line the clips up and cut every 10 seconds on the top layer and delete every other one and then paste that over and over until the entire clip is cut into 10 second intervals. The camera angles stay the same and never move so I just need an incremental cut every 10 seconds no matter what. Is there a quick and easy way of accomplishing this in FCPX or will I just have to use the blade tool to cut every 10 seconds for the entire clip?

This sounds like a perfect task for the multicam function in fcp x. Lots of stuff here on that and will be much easier than standard cutting as you mentioned.

Hey Ryan,

The Premiere method you mention seems very tedious. What Jonathan mentions is probably going to save you a ton of headaches from here on out.

Grab the 2 video clips (or angles) and make a Multicam Clip out of them. From there, you can use the viewer to "live cut" back and forth and you won't have to blade/delete anything. You can even playback the whole interview 2x or 4x speed and just click, click, click to swap angles.

Here's a quick article on Multicam if you aren't familiar with it:
