Canon XF100 footage importing in FCPX was created by Navigator
I read there were some problems with the codec and importing footage from Canon's XF100 (MPEG2 4-2-2) into FCPX. Are these problems solved?

Don't know where you read that. XF100's been working with FCP for some time.

Thanks for responding Tom. I read about problems importing the raw / native footage over here

There's a problem if you don't have the Canon plugin and don't import from the proper camera folder structure. That's not going to be "solved" with these types of formats I do not think.

hello,
I have 2x Canon XF100 cameras. I have not had any problem importing footage.
I remove the CF card from the camera plug it into a Lexar USB3 reader and use the import function in FCPX to impost the footage into my library.
For weddings I use 2 CF cards and let the camera record continuously and automatically swap between the 2 CF cards. Once imported this footage is seamless when placed in the timeline.

Thanks Tom and thanks Ryszard for the explanation. Ryszard, did you have the Canon plugin also?

Hello,
It looks like I have XF plugin 2.2 installed on my Mac pro with FCPX10. 2.2
The only problem: i have is that FCPX doesn't recognise that I am using two XF100 cameras...it thinks all the footage is from the same camera so when I do a Multicam clip i have to manually create a second angle and drag the 2nd cameras footage into the new angle and synchronise from there.
I did once ask on the forum about a fix for this problem identifying 2 of the same cameras but i don't remember if any solutions were provided. For me it is a minor inconvenience.
One nice feature is once the footage has been imported from the CF card to the library, it is no longer stored in some awkward wrapper. The clips appear as easy to view .mov files and you can browse them in the finder.

Is it possible to transfer the footage to your iMac using s a USB cable? Guess it's faster using the Lexar USB3-cardreader.

I remember once i had a CF card where the file structure had become corrupted in some way. FCPX could not read from the card but it would payback in the XF100. I connected the XF100 to my Mac via USB and I was able to import the video. but this is the only time I have ever used a USB cable.
Do you know The XF100 is very choosy about which CF cards it will work with?
I had problems with non branded 64gb CF cards but since then I have bought SanDisk Extreme Compact Flash 64 GB UDMA7 Memory Card up to 120MB/s and they work without any problems.
I prefer to use a USB3 lexar card reader from Amazon for about 20 Euros.

Assign camera angle numbers before you make the multicam clip. It will put them on separate lanes. The default is to use the camera information to identify camera. Looks like the Canon software have information that distinguishes them.
