Finder shows incorrect Library size after running FC Library Manager

I deleted the proxy and render files from a large library using Final Cut Library Manager. Finder still showed 179GB but Terminal du -sh showed the correct 5.4GB.

Examining the package contents in Finder showed about 5.4GB of total space used.

I rebooted, ran DiskUtil first aid, which found no problems, also rebuilt Spotlight indexes on that drive. Finder still reported 179GB for that library.

I then copied the Library package to another HFS+ drive -- the copy showed 5.4GB moved but the new destination still showed 179GB. I then copied it across the network to another iMac, where it locally showed the correct 5.4GB but Finder from the 1st machine showed 179GB.

Eventually the original Library on the Pegasus R4 dropped back to 5.4GB indicated, but this was hours after I first started examining it.

Is this a known issue? Does Finder use a lazy or cached algorithm for space reporting? Is it unique to file packages?

OS X 10.11.3, FC Library Manager 2.72.
Disk = 8TB Promise Pegasus R4, RAID5

I've had this happen too. It was a while ago and I don't remember if I had to reboot to get Spotlight to recognize the change.

If Spotlight doesn't see the change made by Library Manager could system performance be affected because Spotlight still thinks your drive is too full (virtually)?

I've noticed that the Finder sometimes takes a while to update the size information, but I've never cared enough about it to pay any attention to how long it takes or when, where, and why it happens.
