How to update FCPX 10.1.4 ??

Hello All-

I have FCPX (10.1.4) and am currently on Mavericks. I'm in the process of backing up and updating applications to ready for updating to El Capitan. From what I read all apps should be updated before the 10.11.2 El Capitan upgrade.

I am having allot of trouble updating FCPX 10.1.4, and now read that you need Yosemite or El Capitan before upgrading. Not sure what I'm suppose to do here.

Also, I have Motion5 (5.1.2), is this in the same boat as FCPX? At this point I don't know if there is a newer version to Motion5.

Actually you first need to update your OS, then you can update any apps to their most current version.

The current version of Motion is 5.2.2.

Here's Apple's own recommendations about upgrading FCPX.

As long as you are logged into the AppleID that purchased the application, the updates will appear and be installed from the updates tab of the Mac App Store once you are on 10.11.3.
