FCP won't change Date of a clip

Hi There,

I'm using FCP X on a Mac Pro 2014, running El Capitain. I'm trying to use the "Modify" and then "Adjust Date and Time of Clip" to change the dates for a load of clips in my browser.

I follow the steps, type in a date, and click OK and nothing happens. When I go back to the Browser, now the clips have been split into about 4 groups and have a load of really weird dates in them all the way out to 2017?

Can anyone please suggest what I may have done / not done in order for this not to work.

Thank you !

OS X and FCPX versions?
How many clips are you changing at one time?
Screen shot?
In the Action Menu (gear icon) below the Libraries pane, in Group Clips By, change that to None for a cleaner view.

OSX El Capitan - 10.11.2
FCP 10.1.3

I'm trying to change the date of about 30 clips in one hit.

I should mention that I have gone through all these clips and selected them as "favourites" and then the date change I am trying to apply to the favourites... I'm hoping this doesn't matter.

I did as you said regarding the gear icon and "none" and the clips all got mixed up together. I switched it back to "content created" and took a screenshot. As you can see... There are dates for 2016 for some clips... Up to 2017 for others... I want to set the same date for all these clips.. When I select them all and choose a date, they all get even further out of whack.

Any ideas?

Try changing it day by day. FCPX (and Photos for that matter) calculates the new date based on the old 'creation dates'. Hope this helps, cheers.

Ah, filmstrip view. I work mostly with list view for this type of thing. And you're on FCPX 10.1 in EC? That's an issue right there. You really need to run 10.2.2 in EC. I'm running 10.2.2 in EC, testing this function out, not seeing any problems.
