Examples of topic navigation/table of contents/visual guides in video form?

Hey guys,

I've seen a lot of presentations (in powerpoint) recently come across the trend of using a graphic or visual navigation and guides somewhere on every slide to show what portion of the presentation you are in. For example if you have 6 topics to go through you can easily look in the corner of ANY slide and see which of the 6 sections you are on. This is a great way to see where you are in the presentation as a whole and can really help in terms of audience engagement.

I know i've seen similar things in video before, but I can't seem to find any at the moment. Does anybody do this in there videos? Im trying to find design ideas and examples of how this looks in terms of video. Is it a bug? lower third? does it stay up the whole time, or do you just go back to it when you change sections (like a table of contents)? Would love to see if anyone has done this or knows of any examples!

Mike

Video is linear, and aside from some online codecs, hyperlinks aren't really a built-in capability.

If you mean simply something that shows the person what section of the video they're on, there's no rules for that. Use a bug, lower 3rd, whatever you want to use. There's not standards for this in any media form. Whatever works for the video.

I've never done this, as each section was a separate video, with just a marquee at the beginning and end of it.
