Highlight recovery issue in FCPX

I am having a strange issue with Final Cut X when I try to recover detail from bright highlights. When I bring down the highlight level in Color, I can see the extra detail in the footage but as soon as I stop moving the slider it disappears and the image becomes flat and posterized. I have no issues with the same footage in Resolve. Any suggestions?
