How can i use music without importing, just like the videofiles?

Dear community!

I stored my video and music files nice sorted in folders. So i chose the setting "do not import video files, leave them at original place". So only an alias is used.

Now i added music to my clip and chose from the right side a song from my iTunes library (even there i chose NOT to import the music files, cause i sorted them also in nice folder structure).

As i saw afterwords, the song was imported to "original media" completely, not just as alias. How can i setup this that there is only an alias used?

I can't see your answer here, but in the Email i got. It sounds understandable that importing the music from a library will copy it, just like the movie-files from a avchd container. So i will "import" the file from the finder, then it stays in original place.

What happens if you import all the audio into an event and select leave files in place? Doing the media management that way should allow you to leave your audio files in place the same way your video files stay in place. You just won't be able to import through the iTunes window.
