Collecting metadata from C100 II to display in FCPX was created by Squamish ed
I'm using a C100 II and am trying to figure out how to get specific metadata from a clip into FCPX. Using INFO in the Inspector I get some of the data but some bits are missing. Details like camera name, ISO, exposure data and lens info don't seem to be there. There are fields for some of these in the Extended view but they are blank.
Is this something I'm missing in FCPX or is the camera not recording that data? If it's the latter does anyone know how I could get the camera to record this data? I've spent considerable time with the manual and can't see how to add to the data recorded.

Getting software (whether FCPX or any other) to extract all useful metadata from video is often problematic -- especially for newer cameras.
Unfortunately the metadata structures are not standardized, so various software has various capability to extract this from the video files of various cameras.
We cannot change the EXIF metadata extraction logic of FCPX, so whatever a given version does is all we have. Of course under Inspector Info, you can select General, or Extended, or EXIF and maybe it will show more.
However it is very common that video files do not have easily available aperture and ISO data, which is unfortunate since this is commonly needed.
There are some 3rd party tools like MediaInfo: mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
Invisor: itunes.apple.com/us/app/invisor-media-fi...or/id442947586?mt=12
which can extract some info. Whether they can obtain more than FCPX varies.
Probably the most capable tool is ExifTool, a command-line tool: www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
However I tested this with a C100 MkII file and it did not show aperture or ISO.
ExifTool can get aperture and ISO from a Panasonic GH4, Canon 5D3 or Nikon D810 video file, but not from a Panasonic AG-DVX200, Canon C100 Mark II, nor a Sony A7RII.
I asked the developer of ExifTool to enhance the metadata extraction for the A7RII and AG-DVX200 since we use those a lot. I sent him some test clips but never heard back from him.

Thanks Joema. I really appreciate your detailed feedback.
Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my cookies when I can't get seemingly simple things like this to work. When I have time I'll check the links you provided. My 70D files also don't have this info. I'm surprised there isn't a simple and/or obvious way to show this data, particularly things like camera make and model. Manufacturers never seem reluctant to plaster their names everywhere they can.
Happy New Year!
