Dual System Sound: Multicam Clips VS Compound Clips

I came across a workflow on a current project that I like a lot and thought I would share.

With a ton of great articles and tutorials, everyone is familiar with making use of Multicam Clips for dual system sound. There are plenty of advantages with this method, especially when wanting to create a single clip from multiple video angles or clips. The biggest to me is the implementation of a "comp" (AE Speak) or nested timeline that has a parent/child relationship to make audio editing, color grading and other tasks easier. The drawbacks to the Multicam Clip is that you can't break apart the video/audio later and you have to use the Angle Editor.

Compound Clips have that same parent/child relationship, but don't include a way to sync audio to video once created. However, I would prefer a Compound Clip to a Multicam clip—unless I am actually working with multiple angles.

Here's what I do now:
  1. Select the Video and Audio clips I want to sync and Synchronize Clips
  2. Open the Synchronized Clip, select the video and connected audio and create a new Compound Clip.
  3. Reject the original video, audio and synced clip

I end up using the synced clip as a tool to get to a new compound clip with the assets synced. Is this a needless hoop to jump through? I don't think it takes anymore time than selecting which track to use for video and which to use for audio in a Multicam Clip.

I'm probably not the first to think this up, but I did feel the need to share since I've gained a ton of tips/knowledge over the years in the forum here.
