Saving special fonts used in project request. was created by Jonathan Levin
Hi all.
When I was working in FCP 7 and I used a unique font for a title, I learned the hard way that when archiving everything at the end of editing it is also a very good idea to archive any used fonts (unless they happen to be system default fonts) in a folder.
I say the hard way, because I had a hard drive event several years ago and had to re-install everything on that drive. Then the problems came about when I would revisit that FCP 7 project and either an error message or I just noticed the font wasn't correct. There was also no clue as to what face I had used.
I have not tested this, but does X at least tell you by name what font is missing? Years back I sent feedback to Apple about this but instead of doing that, they came out with X.
I'm guessing it's the same thing: one still has to archive a copy of the font(s) used in a project, But it would be helpful if there was a consolidation method that would collect at least the name of a font(s) used in case you loose a font folder by some means.
Any opinions?

How about this?
Choose a text clip in the project. In the metadata view at the bottom of the inspector you can add a custom metadata field. Name it "Font" and fill in the name of the font.
Or save the text style attributes and name it with the name of the font.
