Hey guys,
Doing a big project, but can't range select off the external hard drive (Seagate) , so I end up having to import the whole clip (some 7 gig, some 20 plus gig, the biggest was 300 gig)) it's making the whole process slow.
I do have another hard drive and I can lift stuff from that, only problem is, it's not on that one.
Do I need to turn something "on or "off" ?
Anyone know the reason for this.

So,
I transferred a smaller file to see if it would work on the older external hard drive. It now appears as though I can't range select off that now..hmmmm!

You can only range select when you're importing from a camera or camera archive. You can't range select when you're file importing.

Heya Tom,

ummm, I think I know what you're talking about, but, I'm not sure what you're talking about. :(
My older hard drive I was able to range select, but now I can't range select anything from it now (like my earlier stuff) & I'm sure it's "camera archived".
infact, on the seagate HD, it won't even let me click the 'camera archive'. I thought it kind of did it automatically.

Camera archive creates an FCP archive from a camera card. Yeah u can only range select media that's on a camera, a camera card, in a camera card structure, or in an FCP camera archive. You can only FCP archive from a camera or camera card structure. You cannot archive or range select standalone files on a hard drive.

Right; if you can not range select in the Import window, then you are NOT importing from a camera/card or Camera Archive, period.
