He runs down the list of PROFESSIONAL NLEs and opines for one of them to defy staunch users and break the mold. He covers all the big names: Avid, Premiere, ¿Vegas? Even if he hates FCPX, you think he would use it's rough rollout as an example of why the other NLEs don't want to break away.

Honestly I don't get his point, sure FCPX is a radical change from the old version, and to be honest I am glad Apple took this painful path. FCPX is a wonderful new tool and it will stay the course.

Yes the birth of FCPX was a disaster, in a way a good thing, we saw the potential, well I did not at first, but I stayed loyal and now I love the creative freedom FCP X allows, and when people tell me it is a bad product, I just laugh to myself, if only they knew, and I hope they never get it...For obvious reasons..

By definition a professional is someone that earns a living doing something, imovie can a professional NLE, if you get paid editing in imovie then it is by definition professional.

We are paid to produce work using tools of the trade, we are paid for the time we engage our brains, the decisions made in the editing is the reason we get paid, not for the tool we use, that is a means to an end. We are paid to make creative correct decisions, if that happens through the use of FCPX, Avid or Premiere it does not matter..

If you do the editing correctly, the viewer should have no idea if the edit happened on an ipad, an imac or as he claims a 286 relic...The edit is about the creative decisions and has bupkiss to do with technology...

Apple I am sure is working very hard to make a more robust portable ipad based system, at worst thinking about it, at best in the process of coding, I don't know, I hope so...

The tone of his post was negative, moaning about learning new techniques, he is just plain vanilla wrong, it is good to break old habits, learn new things, get the grey matter thinking in a new way, and thank you Apple for having the courage to present a new workflow...

I was a little blunt with him in the comments on that article. I have zero tolerance for FCPX deniers.

Thanks Dad :)

I've offered an olive branch - I'm currently borderline hallucinating due to illness induced lack of sleep so my tolerance and judgment are off.

Still seems crazy not to mention FCPX in an article about different editing paradigms though.

Why the hate on QWERTY keyboards, doesn't anyone take personal typing anymore? It's a great way to become proficient in using them.

I just read another article from the same author/same site, about "Apple dropping the 3.5mm audio jack" .. based alone on an assumption, he mixes headphone connectors, digital recording, wireing devices, cameras, phones, lightning, usb3c and whatelse ... very weird reading. What is the point? And where is the beef? :woohoo:

No, no bookmark for this site......

Another writer with too much time on his hands being paid to write trivial drool without stating evidence like a professional journalist would do. I spent many years writing for various well known magazines. I got to know the other writers fairly well. I was dumfounded to discover how many wing it, fake it, and once I began seriously reading most of these articles, was shocked at the lack of professional journalism any of them had. They're just ranting off their own personal opinions, even in product reviews. They're not analyzing facts. Don't even bother with them. His articles (found both mentioned here) show a lack of technical knowledge, and personal prejudice.

I couldn't take this article seriously. He spelled it "Premier" as well. I don't know what NLE that is (har har).

It amazes me that so many sites like this post articles in a blog-style fashion without error or fact checking. That's the internet today, though. Bias based articles without research or the whole picture.
