final cut and compressor issue burning DVD was created by nathan.winterstein
I have a large project that I need to burn to a DVD it about a 1:50:16 and I get a error in final cut when trying to go to a dvd it about 16.8GB so I can master final export fine then in compressor it goes fine other than it wont create the DVD and it makes the video 3 hrs long instead of just under two hours.
Any help would be nice

Hi Nathan
It is not entirely clear if your total project is 16.8GB or is it greater??
What codecs, resolution is your project?
16.8 GB for a project is pretty large and requires lots of compression. Most likely will get ugly, IMHO.
A standard single sided DVD holds ~4.7GBs, less really and a Double Layer (DL) holds around 8.5GB so it would be best if you need a DVD to use DVD/DL which would need to compress to ~50% size. Acceptable especially if you use best quality multi-pass compression.
Otherwise there is Blu-Ray (BD) discs which Single layer holds up to 25GB and streams much higher resolution.
Finally, you can try to export out of FCPX to a DVD .img file to the Desktop and burn from there using Toast Titanium.
If using Toast, select the "Copy" tab, then Image with "Fit to DVD" enabled.
Hope this helps, Greg

Actually, you don't need Toast. If you already have it, great. If not, no worries. When you write a DVD to a hard drive with FCPX, it makes two folders. Simply copy those to the blank DVD in the Finder, burn, done. All a video DVD is, is a regular data DVD, with an AUDIO_TS folder, and a VIDEO_TS folder. The DVD player simply looks for those folders, and plays. Even though the AUDIO_TS folder is empty (used only for Audio DVDs, which never really caught on), it still has to be there.
