XAVC Problems with Final Cut X.2.2

Hello all, my first post here.

The setup:

Final Cut 10.2.2 (Two new iMac classroom computers)
Sony PXW-X70 cameras (We have three of these, love them)
Content Browser 2.3.4
XAVC HD 1080/60i at 35Mbps (I found this is the best quality video that my memory cards can handle throughput-wise)

What I initially thought I would be able to do is import footage right into Final Cut either off the card of from a hard disk copy from the card. Either way, same problems:

1. One of my cameras had 1.02 Firmware, which means all clips from that camera are GRAYED OUT in the import window and can't be imported. Attempting to click on a grayed out clip or sometimes navigating into a folder of these clips will make Final Cut crash. (I just now updated this camera, so it should now be a non-issue from this point forward)

2. Footage from the other two cameras with firmware 2.0 works, but comes in with MONO audio, even though I am recording in stereo. We have a large music program at my school. Stereo is important! Channel Count in the import window shows as 1!!

I have a lot of footage from that first camera I NEED to import. And I also need stereo audio! So I installed Content Browser. (I had initially installed that PTZK plugin, but later learned you don't need it with the new Final Cut).

Content Browser will only see footage that has been copied to my hard disk. It won't recognize the structure or clips of the card plugged into the computer. So, we need to copy the cards entire structure over first to the machine. (No big deal, we were doing that anyway).

I've got the following problem with Content Browser:

Video and audio plays perfectly from card offloads, no matter what version the firmware was on the camera. BUT I can't use Import to Final Cut for any of my clips! I get this:

"A clip that cannot be imported into Final Cut Pro is included. There may be no codec for Final Cut Pro. Please confirm the update information of Final Cut Pro."

Both my computers have the Apple update Pro Video Codecs 2.0.3 installed. Further research shows people having issues with Long-GOP XAVC with Final Cut. I have not seen a solution for this.

What can I do?!! I have a bunch of performances already recorded we need to edit.

Thanks so much for any help.

Damian
