RED R3D into fcpx issue? was created by dfphoto
Hi group, just worked on an intense 7 day shoot we drove 1800 miles shot 12-18 hours a day both stills 25k images and over 10 hours of video clips.
I've spent 6 days doing a first pass on fcpx using RED, Sony, and Canon footage and I had imported the R3d directly into fcpx with proxy selected and it worked fine. However, I noticed some files were over and not fixable. My boss told me to use cine-x and there were additional features that did fix my issue. On the info palette very far down I noticed a modify RED settings but each time it deletes the proxy and I can't see an image to adjust. The image does adjust but I have to wait for a transcode which I don't have time for.
On the Red site their video shows importing into fcpx seeing the thumbs as usual and then adjusting their special menu live. I'm wondering if anyone with proper experience can explain why I am not seeing this occur. I have tried importing with proxy only, optimized only, both and none. When none the image shows missing proxy so that didn't help.
I'm on 10.11 and fcpx 10.2.2 Thank you guys again, Dave

Upgrade to 10.11.1, an important bug fix update.
When you create proxies for native REDCODE RAW files in FCPX, when you change the RAW settings, you change how the clip looks. The original proxy clip no longer matches the look. Thus, it needs to be recreated with the changes you made to the original RAW settings. There's really no way around it. It should be a very fast process.
