I am a long time user of OSX and iMovie. Having completed hundreds of videos with iMovie and needing to up my game to more professional editing, I upgraded fo FCPX. I am so glad I did and have been finding my way around it fairly well because of my experience with iMovie. I wanted to get some tips and advice from the experts that I have seen on this forum. One of the steps I have taken is to find as many free tutorial training videos as possible and there is no shortage of these available online!

So far I really enjoy the resource here and look forward to contributing as much as I can. FCPX will be a great compliment to all my pro series DSLR's and Video cameras!

Welcome Eric,

If you can, get to know Motion too and investigate the Coremelt products. You'll find lots of tutorials online for these too. There's lots to learn but by using these tools in conjunction with FCPX your possibilities will seem endless.

Enjoy!

My background was a lot like yours, Eric. FCP Pro X is some high-speed stuff and I love it (along with Motion and Compressor, which are worthy companion applications).
There is a lot of good free stuff online. But the way my brain works, I wanted something more directed and continuous.
So I worked my way through this book from Peachpit , which includes downloadable content for the exercises.
I got the Kindle version from Amazon for about $34 and consider it money well spent.

That book is absolutely the BEST way to get started. Hands-on, self-paced, and a professional workflow.
