multi-clip project gone awry

multi-clip project gone awry was created by tpf1952
A few weeks ago I edited some rough cuts of some meetings: three-camera, multi-hour, people around a table stuff made into a dozen projects/sequences.
Today I open one of the projects: it plays the same as when I last worked on it. The cuts from one camera to the next also occur as when I made them. However, the actual cuts, i.e. the vertical perforated lines we like to see in the multicam sequence are missing. Yeah, missing. This could make color correction a little painful. Any suggestions on how to restore the "splice" lines?
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,
Which version of FCP X are you using?
Which version of OS?

Tom,
Have you already tried if deleting your preferences makes any difference?
Close FCP X and open it again while holding the ALT+CMD keys pressed down. A message will appear asking if you want to delete your user preferences. Just confirm and let FCP X open. Then open your Library, select your multicam project and see if this solves the issue.
If this does not solve the issue: create a new Project and copy/paste the contents from the problematic Project timeline into the new timeline.

Oh yes, one more thing.
Your screenshot does not show the nature of the clip on the timeline. So it could pretty well be that your multicam edit is inside a compound clip.
R-click the clip on the timeline and choose "Open in timeline". Does this bring back the cut up multicam clip?
If so: go back to the project timeline, select the clip again and press SHIFT+CMD+G to break apart the compound clip.

Ronny,
All three suggestions and nothing did the trick: deleted preference, created new project and pasted the problem project contents into an empty project and finally tried seek and destroy on the compound clip. No win.
Tried one more thing which was essentially suggestion #2 above: created a blank project, the inserted the "original multi clip" into the project. Result: another project with obvious cuts but no cut lines.
I ultimately gave up, built a new multi clip from scratch and recut the show.
Totally bizarre.
Many thanks for your suggestions.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest sending feedback to Apple with a link to this thread. Maybe keep a copy of the messed up project/clip as well.

Hi Tom,
This is indeed a very weird issue, but you are not alone. I just wanted to make sure that in your case it didn't have anything to do with misbehaving projects or with compound clips.
Yes, please keep that project for a little while and send a bug report to Apple using the Feedback link in FCP X. It is possible that someone will contact you for more information.
Could you do me a favor? Can you export an XML of this project and send it to me?
Select the project with the strange timeline and choose File > Export XML. In the window that appears, click the Metadata View pop-up menu and choose the Extended metadata view. Then click Save to save the XML file to your desktop. It's only a small file and creating it only takes a few seconds. Then please send it to ronnycourtens@mac.com
Thank you!
