When using ken burns you can't manually frame a poster. However you can frame a part of it, is that correct? I'm starting with a poster, but KB will just give you it's parameters to work with..Any way of framing it all at the start with KB? ..ta.

If you open the KB controls using the transform popup in the viewer you can set whatever start and end positions you want.

as far as I understand your question:
yes, KB has always the aspect ratio of the Project (here: 16:9)

... not the aspect ratio of the pic itself ...
KB is meant for full frame video.
If you want square pics, you need the manual crop&transform tools ...
