fcpx 10.2.2 sluggish all of a sudden was created by dfphoto
Hi group, once again, I just upgraded to osx 10.11 and fcpx 10.2.2 and today my normal setup 4tb striped raids x 2 are really sluggish. I checked via disk tester and I'm getting 250mb/s speed and my timeline is a short 45 sec commercial.
Any function show the ball of death for 10-30 sec including adjusting color, scale, just every single thing. Does anyone have any advice? My drive has 300gb of space SSD and the Raids have over 3tb of open space.
thanks Dave
ps. I do regular cache maintenance.

Hey Dave,
If the sluggishness has started after updating the OS, there may be many things causing it.
1. Are you sure your disk tester says 250mb/s and not 250 MB/s ? 250MB/s would be relatively normal for a 4-drive RAID, 205mb/s is definitely WAY too slow.
- If it really reads 250mb/s, you should check if there aren't any drivers available for your RAID system that have been adapted for OS X 10.11.
- If it reads 250 MB/s your drives are okay. In that case:
2. Create a new admin user account and launch FCP X. See if you still have the same sluggishness problems using the new admin account.
- If so: post back.
- If not: your user directory may be corrupted due to the OS X update. In that case you can either go nuclear and do a complete erase and reinstall of your system drive, or you can use this method to try and repair your user directory:

Hi Ronny, no idea if you ever sleep!!!
I'm trying to optimize the drive and the 2nd unit is only showing 200-210mb/s on the blackmagic disk test. I'm using a usb3 raid setup maybe it's slower due to that, but also the drives are 5400 samsung spinpoints it's a dual 2.5" raid setup. But I thought the other day I was editing and it was running normal so I"m not sure what is happening. I've never had this type of behavior even from a stock 5400 rpm usb external.
I just updated el capitan to 10.11.1 I'm running techtool on optimization on the 1st raid and I'll report back in a day as I have a lot going on tomorrow.
Thanks pal!

Could Spotlight still be indexing? That can cause slowdowns.

That's also a point you might check. Great idea.
