metadata xml export on generated clips

Working on a project that requires me to use custom metadata fields on clips and be able to export them via xml.
For camera originated video clips, custom metadata exports in the xml without issues.
However, when apply custom metadata to generated clips, FCP does not export them in the XML.
In other words:

- open the Generator Browser in FCP X
- add any of the generators to your timeline (I have been using the "custom" generator and leaving it black)
- add metadata to this generator (custom or otherwise, even adding notes)
- export the timeline's (project's) XML
- open the XML in a text editor and search for the metadata you added to the generator clip.
Result? Nothing found.

I just want confirmation that adding metadata to FCPX generated clips will not export to XML.
And if that is in fact the case, which it appears to be, then is there any workaround?

(by the way, this is also true of titles. create a title, add metadata to the title, export the XML and none of the metadata is in the xml)
