Keyframing anything only affects the particular parameter within the clip and does not affect it's location in a timeline. A title may be stretched across several clips within a timeline but any keyframe adjustments are affecting what happens within that title. Fading can be accomplished by keyframing the OPACITY parameter, but not all titles have this as a published parameter. If the title is in primary storyline rather than placed as a connected clip, then the opacity of the title can be adjusted in the video tab of the inspector. The POSITION parameters can be keyframed to create movement from one point to another. Hopefully I understood your question.
You can also use an ADJUSTMENT LAYER. applied to the entire timeline that a title can be applied to, and using the info mentioned above control how that title plays out over the timeline duration. Maybe this is what you mean.

What Dan says.
If you want to do this without keyframes, you might have a look at Titles > Build In/Out > Fade. Is that what you mean?

Hmmmm, I just want a word in a title clip to fade out, it's already there in the title clip.

So you want to add a line of text to the timeline, and then you want one of the words in that line to fade out. Is that correct?

Line of text is already there, I just want it to fade away over time. Will I have to use a build in/out title or something instead

Do you want the entire line to fade away over time, or just one word in that line?

Okay, then you can just add a dissolve transition to the end of the title clip. This will fade out the text. You can make the fade out as short or long as you wish.
