Frosted Glass Overlay

Hi, I am hoping someone can assist me in my plight.
I am new to FCP X and wondered how I can create a frosted glass overlay that slides out from the side (a panel about a quarter of the width of the screen) where I can apply some text and a log.

It will be present foe a couple of seconds before sliding back off the screen again.

I have attached an example of one I like.

Any help, pointers or suggestions re plug-ins to achieve the effect would be appreciated.

Your example looks like it was made with the SugarFX Frosty Glass plugin available thru FX Factory. Pixel Film Studios also has similar plugins. Google frosty glass plugins for FCPX and you'll find a few choices. You could also probably simulate that effect in Motion.
