Best way to import and edit GoPro footage to FCP was created by bhollehday
I currently use Gopro studio to convert the video. It converts the MP4 format to .mov format. Instead of editing and exporting through GPS I then add it to final cut and begin editing. My question is thought is there a better or more efficient/effective way to do this? GPS has features like remove fisheye. If I use that and convert, I think im stuck with that conversion with the fisheye removed, but I may want to add the fisheye back, then id have to reconvert it.
What process do others use? Is it best to keep everything seperate from GPS if your using final cut?

Or import directly into FCPX, bypassing GPS. Then apply one of several fisheye removal plugins. Either workflow is valid, just depends on what works best for you. If you want to be able to enable/disable fisheye removal, then edit either natively inside FCPX, or Optimize your footage during import. Then apply an effect.

Since GoPro Studio is taking H.264 and converting an "editing friendly" format--I'd say you should bypass GPS entirely and use FCPX because it'll do the same thing and save you a little time.
If you run into performance problems editing the H.264 footage, just transcode it to Optimized and/or Proxy if you really need it.
