Possible to add Prezi? was created by DoubleVeeVee
I'm producing an arts forum for my job and learning FCP/Macs in general so bear with me.
Is it at all possible to import a Prezi presentation to FCP? The main speaker for the forum used prezi for her presentation and I have all the files for it, I'm just not sure how exactly I'd be able to include if it is possible at all.

For what it's worth, my workflow is this. There are other ways to do this, I'm sure:
Preparation:
Steve
Preparation:
- Set your Mac display resolution to the size of the FCPX project (e.g., 1920x1080 if your project final video size is 1080p). You'll record the Prezi at (or above) the resolution of your final project. You don't want to have to upscale the Prezi.
- Obtain ScreenFlow ($99), or use QuickTime Player v10.x included on your Mac for free. Or see this article for other free apps to record your screen: www.hongkiat.com/blog/free-mac-screen-recording-tools/ .
- Export the Prezi as a portable Prezi for Mac. I assume you have done this already.
- Assuming you use QuickTime Player, select "New Screen Recording" from the file menu. Hit the record button and click anywhere to record the whole screen. If you use any other tool, set it to record the whole screen.
- Launch the Prezi, and click the Fullscreen button on the lower right of the player.
- Move your cursor as far to the edge of the screen as possible. Unfortunately the cursor stays on the screen, at least for me.
- On your keyboard, press the left arrow key to "home" the Prezi. This also gets rid of the Prezi screen interface. I like to pause here for a second or so to get a nice opening screen.
- Now, using the right arrow key, step through your Prezi with pauses between the slides. These are your anchor points for the talk.
- When you've reached the end of the Prezi, stop recording and save the movie in ProRes422 HQ or ProRes4444 if possible. This is best quality for editing.
- Import the movie into FCPX, edit out the junk, then time your slides to the presenter's video/audio. I edit the slides and pauses using Hold frames. Place your playhead or skimmer on the frame that you want to hold and from the retime dropdown menu choose Hold. Or use the keyboard shortcut Shift - H. See this article: fcpx.tv/tips/customlength.html .
- Have a beer!

Actually, here's how those of us publishing video tutorials professionally do it.
Set your screen resolution high, to its optimum setting.
Size your app's window to your desired output, either 720 or 1080.
Record in Screenflow.
In Screenflow make a 720 or 1080 canvas, resize your screen to fit the app window in it.
Now you can zooming super fast and easy and have super clear resolution out the whazoo.
Screen flow records your mouse cursor position, not the actual cursor, so you can resize it, turn it on/off, highlight it, etc.
Export out as normal ProRes 422.
Transcode in Compressor as desired.
FCPX or any NLE SUCKS for doing application training videos. Use Screenflow start to finish. Much faster, much easier, actually built for that job, does tons of things FCPX simple doesn't.

Thank you both! As it turns out, the Comm Director sent us the Prezi files EXCEPT for the actual presentation itself, but as soon as I get that I'll get back to work. Your instructions are clear and sound simple enough. Thanks again for helping a beginner.
