Someone please help me! I've been working on a project for two months now and all of a sudden, both of my external hard drives failed on me. I fixed them both and all the files are saved yet when I try to reopen my project on Final Cut, It's non existent. When I look in my finder, I can see the .fcpbundle but I still can't get to it. PLEASE HELP ASAP :(

Hi Joe, welcome to the forum.

- R-click on the .fcpbundle and select "Show package contents". Open the event folder(s) to check if all your media are still inside and if the clips play in Finder. If so:

- Launch FCP X while holding the ALT+CMD keys pressed down. You will get a message asking you if you want to delete your preferences. Confirm and let FCP X launch. It will launch with an empty Library. Finally select File > Open Library > Other and select the project you want to open. If this does not work:

- Open a Finder window and go to your Movies folder. See if you have a"Final Cut Backups" folder in there. If so, open the folder to see if you have any backups from the project that won"t open. If so: select the latest backup file and see if it opens your project in FCP X. If this does not work:

What made both of your external drives crash at the same time and how did you fix them? This is important to know so we can narrow down the problem.

Thanks again,

Both of them crashed within the same day with two different problems.
1. the actual disk broke within it (not exactly sure how since it hasn't left my desk since it was put there)
2. I received a random unexpected error while in FCPX and was forced to quit. My hard drive was automatically ejected and wouldn't work on since.
Thanks
Joe

Hey Joe,

Thank you for the information. It's very rare to see two drives going south at the same time. Glad to hear everything is running fine again.

Happy editing!
