So I imported my media by creating proxy media, and I was wondering why FCPX 10.2 was being so laggy. The performance had been so great on my 2011 mbp with SSD.
I realie now it's because it's still using the original H264 files. I revealed them in the finder, and it's still pointing to the original files...yet they proxy media most definitely exists in the library (I opened package contents to check).
What would you do if you were me in this position?
I'd like to edit with the proxy media, then export at full rez when I'm done. I can create my own Prores files if it's easiest to relink them instead.
Thanks in advance.

Switch the viewer settings upper right to proxy playback. Most systems should be quite adequate for H.264 playback so there may be other issues involved.
