Strange behaviour audio in a compound

First of all I have to confess it’s not a project of mine - I just have what I have.
In a nested clip everything is alright, a level of a sound is within -3db. In a compound it exceeds +2db. I do not know why, but there are 3 audio tracks in the compound, but there is just one in the nested clip . All of them except one is empty. As you can see there are no effects, no nothing. I have no clue what’s happening. A person who did this has a vacations and I can’t get him.

All the screens from the compound

Not sure what a "nested clip" is. Do you mean the clip by itself? This does in fact make sense. Sound is cumulative. The more original sources that play at the same time, the more the overall db level will rise.

One person talking at normal conversation level in an auditorium is very low. 500 people get loud. 1,000 people get deafening.

If you're experiencing something different, I'm not clear about it.

I appreciate your irony, you bet.
Nested clip means nested timeline, where the CUMULATIVE
level is Ok

I'm not sure what you're calling a nested clip vs a Compound Clip. Compounds are how you "nest".

"In a compound it exceeds +2db." Yes, THAT is the cumulative level, as opposed to -3db. Sorry, not following the language. Not sure what you mean by "nested clip".

Well. there is a timeline (I call it "nested") . I make a new compound and put it (nested) into it. Is that more comprehensible?

A project timeline is just a project timeline. A clip in a timeline is just a clip in a timeline, not "nested". A Compound Clip is how you "nest" a group of clips in their own timeline, into a project timeline.

So the clips, played by themselves inside the Compound Clip timeline don't peak.
The Compound Clip in a Project Timeline peaks.

You stated that, "In a compound it exceeds +2db."
So just lower the volume level of that compound clip by -2db or -2.5db.

I can lower it not only to -2. It's extremely unbelievable, but I can lower it even to -25 and if I try to do my best might be i run it up to -25.5. No more, this is the end by now. Probably tomorrow morning I get the next level -25.7

In the inspector under the audio tab there is a volume slider, if you click on the number to the right you can type in a value. Also, increasing the clip hight will allow for more precise volume adjustment.

hope this helps,

I figured out finally what a problem was. Fps of the compound is different from the clip inside it. It causes a level boost.

That shouldn't. I'm surprised that made a difference.

a compound containing a -2dB clip can be set to 'any' value .... (??)
I assume there's still confusion what exactly you're doing there:
an audio-only compound??
and how come your audio-tracks are not green.....

....there is a timeline (I call it "nested") . I make a new compound and put it (nested) into it. Is that more comprehensible?

uhm, well, honestly: No ... "timeiine, compound, nested" are well defined expressions, how you call things or how you use these words is irrelevant, and makes an educated discussion closeto impossible... imagine we have to define first what is a 'clip', what is a 'project' etc etc ;)

e.g. are we probably talking about the chanel configurator?

my -4dB clip stil alive, allthough the volume slider is -50 ...?
and: blue audio bars...

but thats not compound, nor nest, nor timeline...... <confused>

The same to me. But when I'd made a compound with the same fps, everything was OK. I have no clue

If you put a project (with a video track) into a compound clip you can see just blue color in it. Of course, I can detach audio (to make it green), but I have no reason for that.

Sorry for that. It bothers me too, but it is what it is, at least by now
