Resolve Round Trip with FCPX Proxies was created by gavinrawlings
Hi all
Has anyone ever had an issues when creating proxies inside FCPX, exporting an XML out to DaVinci and re-linking to original media? I'm probably over thinking this but are there any issues? I haven't done a round trip when proxies have been generated inside FCPX before. I've always created them outside out FCPX.
The two main cameras will have proxies generated from their footage outside of FCPX and the rest of the cameras (GoPros) I want to generate proxies inside FCPX.
Cheers

Hey Gavin,
FCP X generated proxies have no influence at all in an FCP X/Resolve workflow. Just manage everything from within FCP X. I don't understand why you would want to create proxies outside of FCP X. Any particular reason for this?

Hi Ronny
Great to hear. I thought there wouldn't be issues but just wanted to check before I went ahead with the edit. Thanks for clearing it up.
I create proxies outside of FCPX with particular cameras because the original footage is LOG encoded. For the offline edit I burn in particular LUTs when generating these proxies so the client doesn't have to preview LOG encoded footage. Personally I would prefer to skip proxies altogether and bring the footage natively into FCPX and maybe apply LUTs with 'LUT Buddy' plugin or something similar but on my particular system FCPX just bogs down to much.
