Objects stops at keyframes for a second

Hello!
I got an object that I want coming from right to the 1st keyframe, slowing down between the 1st and the 2nd keyframe and then go back fast again to the right. However, when the object reaches the 2nd keyframe (before going back faster), it stops for a second. Is there a way to make it "smoother"? I've set the keyframes to smoother instead of linear with no result.

Anyone who knows how or if it's possible to make it go smoother, instead of totally stopping at the keyframes? :)

Hi Modi

It is possible of course. But now it sounds more like an issue in the way you've built your animation.

When I get incorrect results with keyframing, I often start from scratch again and it can work. Do you use the Video Animation tool ? Very handy to see where your keyframes are. Maybe there's an accidental keyframe somewhere ?

I don't think it is the case, but it might also be that you need to render before playing, it can be that your mac lags before playing it.

Hello!
Thanks for your reply, this is how I've set up the keyframes:

As you can see, I've set two extra keyframes on the middle ones (because if I don't do that, it'll do a turn like a "bezier" effect or something).

One keyframe in the middle would be correct for the effect I think you want to achieve. It is now making a smooth reversion most likely because the keyframes are not set to linear. In order to change this, click the transformation icon (left lower corner of the preview window). Then the keyframes should appear in the preview. Right (ctrl)click one after the other, set their mode to "linear" and you should be fine.

Hi,
I've put the keyframes to linear but it still stops at the ending :S

You have two keyframes in the middle point, there should only be one. Right?

Tried to delete them, but nothing really changed.

That middle keyframe will need to be set to linear, not smooth, also.

Ups :s

I still advise to start from scratch. Keyframes can be powerful yet nasty, if there's one parameter that is keyframed by accident, nothing worked as expected.

Two things I have found are that keyframes don't always end up where you expect when they are created. I was just trying it out and if I place the playhead at 15 frames, every time I clicked the create keyframe button in the inspector, the keyframe ended up at 14 frames and 60 subframes. Every time.

Also, if you delete a keyframe in the animation editor, it is not really gone. If you move the playhead to a point after where the deleted keyframe was and hover over the "create keyframe" button in the inspector, you will get a left pointing arrow indicating there is a keyframe to the left of the current playhead position. I can get it to happen every time. The only way to delete the "ghost" keyframe is to click on the arrow so that the playhead goes to that position and click "delete keyframe" button in the inspector.

I have reported to Apple.
