X2Pro -> Logic Pro X what gets translated was created by Emmanuel
Hi guys
I own X2Pro since a while and I've had good results in the past sending projects to Audio Designers who use Pro Tools via X2Pro.
I've decided to start mixing my simple projects myself, though I took some AAF to a Mac with LPX installed.
The project is rather simple, but a LOT seems to not be translated:
- for example, levels, and keyframes levels are lost in translation
- another clip has a crossfade in the beginning, and is in a secondary storyline, this clip doesn't even appear on the LPX tracks !
I am a little bit surprised that the results are so poor. Is it normal ? I'm reading Sam Mestman's blog who seems to recommend LPX, and I know many of you are using it...
So am I doing something wrong, or are my expectations too high ?
I can bare with the levels going away, but some clips disappearing from the timeline, that's another story.
Thanks !!!!!

Have you seen what RonnyC wrote in this thread?… www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...-fcpx-to-logic-x-xml
Might help.
FCPX to LPX has been problematic for me, but haven't tried latest versions and all of Ronny's suggestions.
Be interested to hear if it works for you.
Hope this helps, Greg

Thanks a lot, I had read this thread some time ago and forgot about it.
- For once in my life, I will contradict Ronny and say that no, using FCPXML is really, really not reliable. I've just tried and I get horrible results: many tracks are starting and ending at wrong In and Out points.
- And actually, that's why I am concerned, I am actually using the "method that everybody says it works", using the AAF via X2Pro. But even then, I am surprised by some of the results (see my first post).
I know that Ben does this often, maybe he will see this post soon.

FCPX to LXP via FCPXML works OK with smaller projects. With larger ones, it can be a disaster, even with the latest updates. X2Pro is your best bet. There's nothing any better, really.
The three things that irk me about FCPX, considering its age, lack of: 1- color grading keyframes, 2- proper audio mixer, 3- No reliable/realistic/professional round trip to LPX/Motion. But that's just me.

Ben
With X2Pro, do you get really good results ?
Like sending keyframed levels, or compound clips ?
X2Pro works wonderfully with Pro Tools but the tests I'm doing now with LPX are highly dissapointing.

I haven't used X2Pro in a long time. Are you using LE or the full version? I'd check with their tech support.

I have the Pro version.
Left a message on their forum, gotta wait until the end of the weekend I guess, but from the past I remember their answer is:
"we'll help you with that file, but LPX is not officially supported"

Which is ashamed, because they said they were going to eventually support it when X2Pro was first released, then changed their mind. They should, it would sell more copies. That is the only reason I don't purchase it, no LPX support.

Hi,
after helping someone with similar problems I want to ask you this : do you have any signs or accents in the file names ? In the notes field or any other text metadata ?
I am not saying that it works 100% but it seems that the fcpxml exported after getting rid of all accents/signs achieved better results in LPX wether using the xml route or via X2Pro.
To my knowledge X2Pro was made to work for PTools only and just happens to work, more or less, with a few others such as Merging's Pyramix (though a bit buggy since their last update.).
Hope this helps,
P.

Patrice,
Thanks for the help@
No special character, no... I found out that one problem was that Automation on tracks was not enabled in my LPX. So it was my fault.
The clip that disappeared is on a secondary storyline, starting with a transition. Any experience with this ?
