Quality loss DVD HELP was created by Raffi
Hey!
Im having a huge problem with exporting my final cut pro project to an DVD…

The size is 1080 HD - 25i
Filmed with a Sony Cam Recorder

When I'm watching the project in FCP the quality is good, but when i exporting it to a DVD I'm having a huge quality loss??

If I'm making a Master File, I'm also having a quality loss?

The project is with dvd menu and chapters.

Compressor… Would it help if i bought compressor and made the dvd through that? and would my dvd menu and chapters still be on the dvd?

DVDs are standard definition. If you want to maintain 1080 you will have to use Blu Ray.

Exporting a Master File won't have any quality loss.
DVD, as said, will give big quality loss. First, as said, it is standard definition. But mostly, because of the super highly compressed MPEG-2 codec it uses.

meant as an addendum:

Where or how do you watch resulting disk?
I like this tiny graphic I picked up somewhere:

Means: watching (and judging!) DVDs 'full screen' on a computer results immanently in 'loss'.

BUT, you can use, for example, Toast which can burn HD quality (or near as dammit) to an ordinary DVD. Naturally, you'll still need to play it on a BRay device to get the full quality. There might be other programs (do we call them "apps" now?) that can do the same. Good luck.

What Toast is doing is an AVCHD version of Blu-Ray, which gives you VERY limited time to put so-so quality HD video on standard def DVD media. More and more newer, cheap Blu-Ray players are not reading them now, though. May as well get Blu-Ray media and burner and retain all the quality you can.
