Help! Our Sony Nex VG10 is now freezing the image!

Hello! Our FCPX input is a VG10 which we've had for 5 years. All of a sudden it decides to stop filming.... it shows the correct image frozen from when it last filmed.... and just won't film any more.

We use this camera weekly. It has done this to me many times tonight already.

To get it to work again I turn on and off and take the lens off and put it back on again... sometimes it works straight off, sometimes I have to do it a couple of times.

We need this to be working really well for just under a couple of weeks from now, and indicators would be much appreciated!

Our HDMI out cable ended up in 2 pieces, this being what is left of the Mini HDMI plug..... could this have caused the camera image to freeze, or should I be looking for another cause?

I'm trying to work out if the 2 are independent and I have 2 problems to solve, or one caused the other and its OK now.

I filmed for two and a half hours today without any problems....

That cable could very well have been the cause.

For info for anyone else who has the same problem out there.... the camera hasn't frozen again since we replaced the broken HDMI out cable.
