Final Cut Pro 10.2 : Sharing a 1080p project to DVD changes to 720p

I am using Final Cut Pro 10.2. All of the footage I am working with is 1080p (including the first clip, graphics, etc.). The project properties indicate that all the footage is 1080p, but when I share to a DVD the resolution changes to 720 (indicated in the lower left of the share window).
There is no option to select the resolution for sharing a DVD. Final Cut has automatically selected the resolution as 720p in the export window. I've tried exporting the project as a 1080p video (the resolution was retained), then creating a new project with the file in a new timeline, then to DVD and, again, the resolution was changed to 720p.
Any suggestion/help with varying the quality when sharing a DVD?
Thanks!

OK, video 101, I now realize that all DVD's are SD. Please excuse the newbie question.
