extending range of a favorite without losing the text

So I am editing some talking head interviews and using "favorites" as subclips and selecting ranges of key dialogue. I first select an in/out and press F, then enter some key dialogue phrases as the new label of the favorite.

So far so good.

But then when I want to revise the range of a favorite already entered, I select the favorite in list view in the Browser. Then drag out the handle of the clip selection to accommodate another key phrase, but then when I go to reselect the favorite in list view, it reverts to the original out point and will not retain the new end point. If I try to extend it again and press F, it overwrites the text that I previously entered...basically a new favorite overwriting the old.

Is there any workaround to this? Sometime you want to add to a favorite's range, but without losing the text you've previously entered.

Is there a tip that will help me do this? Otherwise I may think of using markers for essentially the same function where I won't get overwritten and lose previous text entries.

Thanks for any help on this issue!

Markers don't have a duration so really have a different use, but you could use a marker.

Select the Favorite in the list and press Return, which selects the text. Press Cmd-C. Extend the length of the section in the browser and press F. Select the favorite in the list, Return and Cmd-V. It's a little more complicated to shorten a selection.

Some people like to use a separate keyword for each sound bite, which seems silly, but you can group all these one keyword collections into a single folder called bites, so it behaves very much like other applications' bins.

Thanks, Tom, for the quick reply. The insight of doing a "copy and paste" as a solution for not losing the text of a favorite had sailed right by me! I will give this technique a go for when I readjust the ranges of a favorite!
