Having real trouble booting up my FCP this morning, tried restoring computer and pulled all the hard drives out, so it doesn't have any projects and still it's getting stuck on the final restoring windows message
Anybody have an idea?

Does resetting the preferences fix this? Hold Option-Command while you boot the application. If not try trashing the window layout folder in ~/Library/Application Support. I think it's in a Final Cut Pro folder.

Hi again Tom!
Tried that - it works for a while but it's really crashy! Even with no projects loaded (just a default one which has no footage)

You'll have to give complete details of your hardware and software specs. Also try making a new admin user and see how it works there.

OSX Mavericks OS X.9.5
FCP 10.1.4
2 x 2.93 GHz 6 core Intel Xeon 32 GB RAM
It's been absolutely fine until this morning the only difference I can see is I've installed a few new (audio) plugins (which work fine in my audio applications!
I have tried removing them from the 'components' folder, but other than that I don't know what it is
I'm going to try being a different user now!
Cheers

It seems to crash when I open the 'effects' library

Exactly what audio components did you install? There are some known to not play well with FCPX.
You could also download the free app "FCS Remover" from Digital Rebellion. Use it to remove FCPX (simply moving app to trash doesn't get everything) from your system. Then launch the App Store, go to Purchases, and re-install FCPX from scratch. This won't touch any Libraries or media, it is safe.

Tried Logging in as a new Admin user - no change soon as I try and open the effects filters tab it will crash.

It's incompatible audio effects you've installed, I'd say.

I have seen crashes with some audio plugins before (Thomas Mundt and some older Waves), so I agree there's a big chance this can be related to having installed the audio plugins. Which plugins exactly did you install?

Hi Ronny
I've updated my UAD card plugins and installed a couple of others, which I'm now going to delete (not the UAD update though)
I'm up and running at the moment, just haven't opened the effects tab yet - might do it at lunchtime when things die down!
