Little needles on clips (attached to storyline)
when I trim backward, the needle stays put. How do I move that little thingie with it?

Why do you want this? For some sense of "neatness"? Or is there a real need?

I don't know... when I have snap disabled it really irritates me that connection point is somewhere random.

There is a manual, and tons of training videos.

apparently its called "connection point" and i still can't find how to reset it to the *Beginning of the clip*
only says how to move it. (option+cmd + single click)

For example, when I started with FCPX I didn't knew I could move the connection point until I read Richard Taylor's tips for FCPX .

Instead of reading a manual or search for a tutorial in youtube (which may be useful or misleading, depending on the knowledge of the creator of the video)

Agreed, or maybe a "quick start" video with the basic concepts...

Tilde/Grave key overrides the Connection Stem when doing edits, too, as previously mentioned.

yep, indeed, the 'needs' differ...
Being an 'enthusiastic hobbyist' myself, I would like to recommend
Lessons for FCPX << link to US-AppStore... again, who else
the 20 lessons (first 10 for free) give an excellent and comprehensive overview of features and workflow, e.g. how important meta-data is etc.
Can not replace any book (I like Tom Wolsky's writing), nor profund hands-on-training (e.g. which Ben offers) ... but for a start ... as a side-effect, you learn the app-specific lingo.-
And, hey, 10$ for an hour of compact, profound info - what could possibly go wrong?

For me, the Opt-W (insert gap) (and dragging to change the size of the gap), and opt-cmd-click to change connection pt, and the tilde (override connections) are HUGE tools that are rarely mentioned, especially by the folks who grumble about the trackless magnetic TL.
I dunno…the info is really all out there (and in here!) One big issue IMHO, is also that anyone can edit video these days, but until you have the story-telling chops and know what you want to do, it is hard to ask the precise question about how to get it done.
I remember coming from film, and all the verbiage of FCP v.1 was so right on (Bins, Reels, etc), but still, I could KNOW I needed to make a cutaway so I could edit the audio of an interview, but geez! I had to go to the beach and read the manual before I could make the one cut!
Maybe FCP.co will be the aggregator of the little basic tutorials (from The Guru as well!) Is anyone actively aggregating here? Or is the tutorials forum just for individual posts?
