FCPX not displaying via DecLink Mini Monitor

This one has me stumped, so I'm hoping the collective experience of the group might have an insight.
Due to some issues with problematic plug-ins, I was forced to re-install FCPX (10.2.1). All is fine, except, A/V output via the BMD DeckLink Mini Monitor - no output is seen. I'm using the latest driver set (10.4.2). I have tried various combinations of re-installing FCPX and the Desktop Video Utility software, all to no available. I've tried different versions of the Desktop Video Utility as well. Same result
Until I was forced to re-install FCPX, this combination (FCPX 10.2.1/OS X 10.10.4 + BMD Desktop Video 10.4.2) was working fine.
I've tried using the Black Magic Media Express app, just to see if the problem was the driver, and that displays images fine, so I'm assuming the problem lies somewhere within FCPX. FCPX detects the A/V hardware correctly as reported in the Preferences Playback pane, it's just that no images appear on the external display.
Is anyone aware of any way to debug this problem further.
Thanks for any consideration you can give to this problem.
Best,
Scott R.

Hi Scott, welcome to the forum.
If you have done all the obvious steps, such as making sure A/V output is checked in the Window menu and reinstalling the latest drivers, you may have to reinstall the OS on top of itself to make this work. The BMD Mini monitor can be very quirky sometimes, but once you get it running it will continue to work.

Seems obvious, but did you check the blackmagic desktop video output settings in your system preferences? You did not mention whether you did so. It needs to be a format and output (in this case, SDI) that your monitor accepts, of course.

I bit the bullet yesterday and re-installed the OS (Yosemite 10.10.4), which required the re-installation of the Desktop Video Utility (drivers) and lo-and-behold - it all started working again...
thanks for the feedback folks.

Does anyone know if this BMD Mini Monitor will work with a MP mid 2010 12 core tower? Specs would indicate it does.

Mini-Monitor is Thunderbolt only.
Both AJA and BMD are notorious for badly buggy drivers. Be sure you have the latest installed.

I don't think so. I am referring to this PCIe version: www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/decklink/techspecs/W-DLK-05

it does. that's what I've got. has worked well with FCPX and PPro with the exception of the last glitch. Although Media Composer is **very** fussy (7.0.4). I, and many other people have had numerous playback performance issues, which seem to be on Avid's side, rather than the driver.
