Video looks better on Vimeo Than on timeline was created by Makki
I shoot XDCAM EX 35. Before importing toFCPX I use Edit Ready to convert to ProRes 422. On the timeline it looks " muddy, overexposed and with loss of details ". After color correction and other tweaking it looks better. master file looks very good but to my surprise after uploading to Vimeo the movie looks super, details, artifacts gone and cetera. I always use better quality when editing. Is there any explanation to this ?

Assuming you are viewing the master file and the online version on the same monitor, that would be odd due to the additional compression and processing of Vimeo ( or YouTube). Unless of course the Vimeo version is a much smaller frame size which may make the video appear sharper and with more contrast. If the frame size your viewing is the same for both, then maybe posting screenshots of each would shed some light on the issue.

Thank you for answering. I really meant the look in the viewer. As far as I understand FCPX will not show nearly full qality in the viewer even if playback setting is better quality. For some strange reason: I bought a new SD card and made some test shooting and in the viewer it seems ok. Never heard of cards causing this.

From what I've read online, including Apple documentation, the FCPX viewer is supposed to show every pixel of every frame when set to better quality and 100 % view and when using optimized/original media setting. The SD card issue is puzzling but it sounds like the new card is working better for you.

My viewer is set 85 percent by default. I set it to 100 percent and it was horrible. Now I wonder what can cause this. Converting to Pro Res 422 should be ok whatever converter I use ? But as I said when finally on Vimeo, it looks amazing.
I have two stills to compare but as usual it is impossible to insert an image on this forum, what ever format.

To insert an image, select add file, browse and choose your image, and then be sure to hit "insert" to attach it to your post.

Use JPEG and make sure they're not huge files sizes. As long as the images are reasonable sizes and JPEG, shouldn't be an issue posting here.
Example; When I do full screen shots (Cmd-3 in Finder), OS X saves it as a PNG, and with my monitor they are really huge. Both in file size and frame size. Simply converting them to JPEG (via Preview) helps. Mostly I crop them down to only the area I need (Cmd-4 in Finder). If it is an existing photo or graphic, reducing the size to no more than about 600-800 pixel width and/or height, and JPEG works pretty much all the time for me, also.
There should be a "clearly posted" sticky on this forum about image size restrictions. If there is I've never noticed it.
